Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) is a national association with 75 chapters representing 23,000 merit shop construction and construction-related firms with nearly two million employees. ABC's membership represents all specialties within the U.S. construction industry and is comprised primarily of firms that perform work in the industrial and commercial sectors of the industry.
ABC was founded in 1950 when seven contractors gathered in Baltimore, Md. to create an association based on the shared belief that construction projects should be awarded on merit to the most qualified and responsible low bidders. Their courage and dedication to the merit shop philosophy spread rapidly, and within time, ABC became the fastest-growing association in the United States. Today, ABC is recognized as one of the leading organizations representing America's business community and the merit shop construction industry.
The American Society of Concrete Contractors was formed by and for concrete contractors and others who provide services and goods to the industry. It is a powerful organization of contractors who share the same goals – to improve their businesses and their roles as contractors. Members
include contracting firms, manufacturers, suppliers, designers and other professionals. There are over 500 member companies in the U.S. and abroad.
ASCC seeks to be the voice of the concrete contractor, serving as a collective instrument to give them a stronger presence in the construction industry.
ASCC is committed to helping members enhance the quality of their construction and their businesses. Contractors become better equipped to improve all aspects of their performance with the help of valuable information and member interaction.
The Decorative Concrete Council advances the quality and use of decorative concrete systems. The Manufacturers Advisory Board counsels the ASCC on how to enhance the interaction between manufacturers, service providers and the contractor members. The Safety and Risk Management Council provides publications and other resources to make ASCC contractors the safest in the industry.
The Tompkins County Chamber of Commerce is 100% Member supported.
